Project
The school’s heating system experienced residual buildup in the pipes, impacting the heat distribution across the building and inconsistent heating in each of the rooms.
The Solution
Plant Room Upgrade:
The school’s heating system was upgraded with the installation of a 2-pipe boiler system that replaced the previous, outdated 1-pipe setup to enhance temperature regulation throughout the school.
The control panels and circuits were updated to support the new heating system.
Radiator replacement:
Throughout the school, traditional radiators were replaced with high-performance convector heaters. These units offer superior heat output and faster room heating times. In the smaller utility and changing rooms, pipe coils were strategically fitted close to the ceiling to avoid any safety concerns for the children and staff while providing exceptional heat distribution.
Air conditioning units:
To improve the climate control of the upper classrooms that had a large amount of natural light, new Mitsubishi air conditioning units were installed across the floor.
The installation includes four external split DX systems that optimise airflow and minimise noise disturbance. The system is designed to work with the new Mitsubishi AC units and provide a comfortable learning environment year-round.
The Benefits
Improved Temperature Regulation: The upgrade to a 2-pipe boiler system allows for more consistent and efficient heat distribution throughout the school.
Enhanced Heating Efficiency: The high-performance convector heaters result in improved heat output and faster room heating times. This results in improved energy efficiency and reduced heating costs.
Safety and Performance: The carefully planned placement of pipe coils in smaller rooms ensures safety for children and staff while heating effectively.
Year-Round Comfort: The new Mitsubishi air conditioning units in the upper classrooms provide improved climate control and a comfortable learning environment regardless of the season.
Minimal Noise Disturbance: The placement the external split DX systems allows for optimised airflow and minimal noise disturbance.
Modernised Infrastructure: Upgraded control panels allow for customised heating of each classroom through the touch of a button.
Environmental Benefits: The modernisation of the heating and cooling systems will support lower energy consumption and the school’s sustainability efforts.
