This role is to head up the environmental and social activities for our business. We are a commercial mechanical and electrical contractor that works for end users and we support the facilities management industry for both projects and maintenance. We have been trading for 34 years, have 50 members of staff and are proud to be a purpose led business that is aiming to obtain B-corp status within the next few months.
The successful candidate must be an expert in the sustainability and have a passion for using business for good for our people and communities.
Responsibilities:
Manage our B-corp application that has been applied for in August and then once obtained, the ongoing continual management and improvement to the processes as we grow as a business.
Attend networking events around the sustainability and ESG industry.
Educate our staff on ESG, sustainability, how to reduce their carbon emissions and generally on what social value is.
Track, monitor, record and improve our carbon emissions via our partner software Greenly. The following on from inputting the information and obtaining our reports, managing and implementing continued improvements to our operations.
Work with the in house marketer to communicate the businesses ESG functions internally and externally.
Head up and manage the social value functions of the business including overseeing our charity work, planning of events, setting up and managing a social value committee, be create with our business social value processes and events and reporting on the impacts we make as a business.
Own our ISO 14001 environmental management plan including assisting the H&S manager with waste management plans, monitoring our waste, coming up with ideas to improve our operations etc.
Create and manage our own route to net zero road map and then head up the implementation.
Work with the in house marketer to create content for the website, create blogs, work with clients etc in all things ESG.
Create Scope 3 emission reports and packs to provide to our clients.
Work with our supply chain on ESG and improve their functions as they support us.
Assist with tender bids and framework applications in regards with ESG.
Person Specification:
Formal qualification in sustainability.
Proven experience of implementing and managing sustainability within a business.
Proven experience of implementing and managing social value for a business.
Passion for using business for good and being purpose driven.
